|
A l'arrivée, au niveau du torii, on trouve un dernier Oji : le Haraido-oji avec cette inscription sur le panneau : One of the goals of the Kumano Pilgrimage was to rid one's body and spirit of impurities from past and present lives, and to be ritually reborn and rejuvenated by the virtuous powers of the Kumano deities. Purification rituals were performed fervently throughout the entire pilgrimage process, elevating a pilgrim's purity at each sacred site along the way. Haraido-oji was of ultimate importance in this regard. "Harai" means "exorcism" or "purification", and it was at Haraido-oji that the final purification rites were held before worshipping at the Kumano Hongu Taisha. | |
